Maruti Suzuki's New Model, Fronx, Comes Equipped with Six Airbags as Standard Safety Features
Maruti Suzuki's Fronx Breaks Export Records
In a significant milestone, Maruti Suzuki's compact SUV, the Fronx, has surpassed the 1 lakh export mark, making it the quickest Indian model in its segment to achieve this feat. The Fronx, which was introduced to global markets in 2023, has been shipped to over 80 countries worldwide.
The Fronx, sharing its platform with the Baleno, began its export operations shortly after its domestic launch in April 2023. It has notably gained traction in regions such as Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. Maruti Suzuki exports 17 models to nearly 100 countries, and the Fronx is one of them.
The Fronx comes with two petrol engine choices and offers both manual and automatic transmission options, making it an appealing choice for various markets. In the financial year 2024-25, Maruti Suzuki exported more than 69,000 units of the Fronx, making it the most exported passenger car from India during that period.
The Fronx's recent update has also made it a more attractive option for safety-conscious buyers. With the addition of six airbags as standard, the Fronx aligns with Maruti Suzuki's broader safety goals. The Urban Cruiser Taisor and the Rumion MPV are likely to receive the added safety gear in the future.
Maruti Suzuki has held its title as the top exporter of passenger vehicles from India for four straight fiscal years. In the first quarter of FY 2025-26, Maruti Suzuki shipped over 96,000 units abroad, accounting for 47 percent of all passenger vehicle exports from India-a record high. The Fronx's success is a testament to Maruti Suzuki's international growth strategy.
Among the standout markets for the Fronx is Japan, where it has made a strong impact. Other primary international markets for Maruti Suzuki include South Africa and Saudi Arabia. The company began updating its models to include six airbags as standard starting with the Fronx in late July 2025, signaling an ongoing rollout across their range. The S-Presso and Ignis are expected to receive this upgrade by the end of 2025, followed by the Urban Cruiser Taisor and Rumion in due course.
