Mediaplus UK's Longtime Executive Guy Sellers Retires After 42-Year Tenure

Guy Sellers, a renowned media executive, has announced his retirement from Mediaplus UK after a remarkable 42-year career with the company, which started as Total Media Group in 1983.

Sellers joined the small three-person team and progressively advanced through leadership roles, becoming managing director in 2007, CEO in 2009, group CEO in 2022, and finally group chair in 2024 following the firm's acquisition and rebranding as Mediaplus UK.

Throughout his tenure, Sellers played a significant role in the growth of Mediaplus UK. He led the company’s transformation from a small agency into a larger, rebranded media group within the Serviceplan Group. Under his leadership, the agency earned marketing and branding acclaim, with notable achievements such as the "Get a Ticket, Not a Criminal Record" campaign for the London Underground subway system in the U.K., and long-term partnerships with major brands including Epson, Macmillan Publishers, Hiscox, MG Motors, E.ON, and Tony's Chocolonely.

Sellers' contributions extended beyond business growth. He was instrumental in establishing a strong company culture, a factor he credited for the agency’s success. In an interview with Campaign, he stated, "I have been very fortunate, having been able to help create a magnificent culture alongside brilliant clients and colleagues."

Upon his retirement, Thomas Laranjo will succeed Sellers as Mediaplus UK group CEO. The rebranding of Mediaplus UK occurred earlier this year.

As Sellers steps down, he leaves behind a legacy of success, growth, and a strong company culture that will continue to shape Mediaplus UK in the years to come.

During his tenure, Guy Sellers' leadership played a crucial role in the financial growth and expansion of Mediaplus UK, transforming the small agency into a reputable media group within the Serviceplan Group. He also prioritized the development of a strong company culture, which he recognized as a significant factor in the company's success. With Sellers' retirement, the mantle of leadership passes to Thomas Laranjo, who is set to continue shaping the agency's future careers and business trajectory, upholding Sellers' legacy of success.
