Kazakhstan to Build Two Nuclear Plants, Prioritizing China's CNNC
Kazakhstan is set to fortify its energy infrastructure with two new nuclear power plants (NPPs). The Almaty Region will host these facilities, with the first one slated for the Alakol District. Negotiations are ongoing with potential suppliers and tender participants, including China's CNNC, which is being prioritised.
The NPPs will be situated in the south of Kazakhstan, an area currently grappling with energy shortages. The second prospective site has been pinpointed in the Zhambyl District of the Almaty Region. The China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) is favoured for constructing the second plant, further solidifying the partnership between the two nations.
The construction of these NPPs is expected to significantly enhance the reliability and stability of the region's energy supply. This strategic move aligns with Kazakhstan's long-term energy development plans.
Kazakhstan's energy landscape is poised for transformation with the upcoming construction of two NPPs in the Almaty Region. The preferred contractor, China's CNNC, will play a pivotal role in this project, aiming to improve the region's energy reliability and stability.
