Fund focused on sustainable small-cap investments marks a return to original strategies for Ambienta, aiming to raise €500 million.

Investing firm Ambienta ventures back into its original focus, aiming for a €500 million fund concentrating on environmentally friendly small companies.

Ambienta SGR, a leading European private equity firm, has announced the launch of a new €500 million small cap strategy. The strategy aims to invest in European small companies that are leaders in environmental sustainability, targeting measurable improvements in resource efficiency and pollution control as key drivers of long-term value creation.

The strategy is a return to Ambienta's roots in backing high-quality, founder-led businesses. The companies to be selected will be based on their ability to benefit from megatrends in resource efficiency and pollution control. Ambienta's focus remains on solid, high-quality, and positioned environmental champions within the smaller market segment.

The strategic milestone marks a continuation of Ambienta's commitment to sustainability in its investment strategies. The fund will use Ambienta's proprietary Environmental Impact Analysis (EIA) tool and ESG in Action programme to track and enhance sustainability performance across its portfolio.

Laurent Donin de Rosière, Partner and Head of Investor Relations and Strategic Partnerships at Ambienta, has stated that the company is deepening its commitment to sustainability. The strategy will be led by an experienced team based in Milan and Paris, including newly appointed partners Yann Bak and Giacomo Forti, who will join current partner Francesco Lodrini.

Campbell Lutyens, Kirkland & Ellis, and Advant NCTM are key partners in the execution of Ambienta's small cap strategy. Campbell Lutyens acted as the exclusive placement advisor for the strategy, while Kirkland & Ellis and Advant NCTM provided legal counsel.

The strategy aims to invest in European small cap companies with revenues of up to €150m that are aligned with long-term environmental sustainability trends. The group will be supported by Senior Advisor Francesco Sogaro. Ambienta's small cap strategy is moving forward with the support of a team of experienced professionals, including its partners and senior advisors.

The ambition is for the fund to expand across other Ambienta offices in Europe over time. Ambienta is broadening its reach within the European lower mid-market while remaining anchored in its science-based, sustainability-driven philosophy. The company believes that companies driven by sustainability trends will continue to outperform.

Recently, Ambienta has expanded its portfolio in sustainability-driven sectors, such as the acquisition of No Dig Alliance, a leader in trenchless technology for water infrastructure, highlighting resource-efficient and minimal environmental impact technologies as part of their strategy.
