Investigators in New York have indicted Steve Aiello, Joseph Gerardi, and others for allegations of corruption.
In a shocking turn of events, nine individuals, including Louis Ciminelli, owner of LPCiminelli and the lead developer on a massive solar panel factory in Buffalo, have been accused by federal prosecutors of bribing a state employee.
The defendants named in the Syracuse real estate development bribery case include Joseph Gerardi, general counsel for COR Development Co, Louis Ciminelli, and Alain Kaloyeros, among others.
Joseph Gerardi is directly connected to COR Development Co as its general counsel, while Louis Ciminelli is connected to LPCiminelli, a separate company involved in the development but implicated alongside COR Development Co parties. Alain Kaloyeros, also known as Dr. K, is president of SUNY Polytechnic Institute and a major player in Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Upstate high-tech projects.
Todd Howe, a former lobbyist and longtime associate of Gov. Andrew Cuomo's family, is also among the accused. Howe, who pleaded guilty to bid-rigging charges, passed away at the age of 65.
Another key figure in the case is Joseph Percoco, a former top aide to Cuomo and a consultant for COR, who is accused of accepting bribes in return for state assistance on development projects.
Steven Aiello, president and co-founder of COR Development Co. of Syracuse, is among the nine defendants accused of bribing a state employee, according to the complaint.
Kaloyeros and Aiello appear as co-defendants convicted alongside Gerardi and Ciminelli in the prosecution related to the bribery scheme.
Michael Laipple is the president of LPCiminelli’s infrastructure division, and Kevin Schuler is a spokesman for LPCiminelli.
The players involved in the federal investigation can be seen, as the case unfolds in the Syracuse real estate development scene.
