New Changan UNI-Z Plug-In Hybrid Compact SUV Debuts in China
The Chinese automaker, Changan, has unveiled its latest offering - the UNI-Z plug-in hybrid compact SUV. This innovative vehicle combines the power of a 1.5-liter engine with an electric motor, delivering a total output of 215 horsepower.
The UNI-Z's powertrain consists of Changan's latest Blue Whale iDD plug-in hybrid system, which includes the 1.5-liter engine and an electric motor, mated to an E-CVT. The engine outputs 72 kW & 125 Nm, while the electric motor delivers a punchy 158 kW & 330 Nm.
The UNI-Z boasts a modern and stylish design, with a borderless inverted trapezoidal grille at the front and a through-type LED taillight set at the rear. The interior is covered in a large area of leather material, with a minimal number of physical buttons, providing a sleek and minimalist look. The front seats are integrated with headrests, and high-end models come with electric adjustment, ventilation, and heating.
The vehicle's 18.4 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack provides a pure electric range of 125 km (CLTC). Fuel efficiency is rated at around 15.2 kWh/100 km (or 138 MPGe), indicating strong electric and hybrid performance.
Safety and convenience features include ABS, 6 airbags, front disc and rear disc brakes, and automatic air conditioning. The UNI-Z is also equipped with a level 2 advanced driving assistance system, featuring lane departure/forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane centering assist, traffic sign recognition, and adaptive cruise control.
Additional features include a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument panel, a 14.6-inch central control screen, a flat-bottom steering wheel, Huawei HiCar, Amap from Alibaba for real-time navigation, a Sony audio system, 64-color ambient lightings, a built-in driving recorder, OTA updates, facial recognition, and voice recognition.
The UNI-Z also comes with multi-spoke aluminum alloy rims and a panoramic sunroof. However, the official comprehensive range of the UNI-Z has not been revealed at this time.
The Changan UNI-Z plug-in hybrid compact SUV is part of Changan’s growing electrified lineup, focused on providing eco-friendly and intelligent travel options. The vehicle will be available for purchase in China from March 28, with a price range of 127,900 - 134,900 yuan (17,900 - 18,900 USD).
