Faraday Future, the American electric vehicle company, has unveiled its second car model in the US - the FX Super One. Contrary to some speculations, the FX Super One is not a rebadged version of the Wey Gaoshan 9 minivan manufactured by Great Wall Motor. Instead, it is an original battery-electric vehicle designed specifically for the US market, boasting unique features, design, and technology [1][2][4].
The FX Super One is equipped with a 130-inch wheelbase, Level 2 autonomy, dual electric motors for all-wheel drive, and will offer multiple seating configurations, including 4, 6, and 7 seats [1][2][5]. It also features cutting-edge AI technologies such as the Front AI Communication Ecosystem (F.A.C.E.) and an in-house Embodied AI Agent (EAI) system, which are proprietary to Faraday Future [4].
The FX Super One is poised to offer a futuristic driving experience with its AI-based "F.A.C.E." front display and advanced driver-assistance sensors. Production of the FX Super One is planned in California, aiming to cater primarily to US families and luxury buyers seeking innovative tech and comfort-focused interiors [3][4].
The FX Super One minivan's delivery is scheduled to begin by the end of the year. While the price of the vehicle has not been disclosed yet, it is expected to be sold in China and the Middle East, expanding Faraday Future's global reach.
It's important to note that Faraday Future was founded by Chinese businessman Jia Yueting in 2014. Jia Yueting, also the founder of LeEco, a conglomerate focused on smartphone manufacturing, smart TVs, and other consumer electronics, faced financial troubles and filed for bankruptcy with personal debt exceeding 3.6 billion USD in 2019 [6]. However, the company has since restructured and is continuing its work on developing innovative electric vehicles.
In a broader context, carmakers and regulators in China are working together to boost car buying transparency via a centralized digital platform. Companies such as BYD and Geely are participating in this initiative, aiming to improve the car buying experience for consumers [7].
