Deepal Unveils Ambitious Electric Drive Plans for 2026
Changan Automobile Group's brand, Deepal, has announced its ambitious plans for the future, including the launch of a globally leading electric drive system in 2026. At the heart of this system is the “Force Super Integrated Electric Drive”, a highly efficient electric drive assembly that promises to revolutionise the industry.
This innovative system boasts an operating efficiency of 92.59%, making it one of the most efficient electric drives worldwide. It achieves this by integrating over a dozen components of the electric drive and control modules, significantly reducing the overall size and weight of the assembly. The system also boasts a power density of 2.53 kW/kg, allowing high power output from a compact and lightweight design.
Deepal's “Force Intelligent Range Extender” technology offers industry-leading fuel-to-electricity conversion efficiency at 3.63 kWh per litre of fuel. This means it generates more electricity from less fuel than typical systems, improving overall vehicle efficiency.
The upcoming Deepal S05 2026 electric crossover will be the first to utilise these advancements. With a significant range increase (up to 155 km on a single charge for one version, with the EREV variant offering a driving range of up to 900 km), the S05 will be powered by an electric motor delivering up to 268 hp. The drivetrain options include pure electric and supercharged hybrid systems with front and rear dual motors.
Deepal also plans to release a battery that remains fire-free even after a high-impact collision at 120 kph. This safety feature is a testament to Deepal's commitment to safety and innovation.
In the coming months, Deepal plans to release a new product every two weeks, starting August 1st, as part of its rapid expansion of its product portfolio. The all-new Deepal L06, featuring the world's first 3nm automotive-grade cockpit chip and standard-equipped LiDAR across all variants, is slated for a Q4 2025 release. Over the next five years, Deepal aims to launch 30 new mainstream and differentiated models.
