Intelligent transformation underway in Neuhof, Flieden, and Kalbach
## Smart Lighting and Energy Management Coming to Neuhof, Flieden, and Kalbach
In a bid to save energy, reduce costs, and enhance sustainability, the municipalities of Neuhof, Flieden, and Kalbach are set to implement smart lighting and sensor-based energy management systems in their town halls, community centers, and kindergartens. This project, named the "Modular Smart Region Platform 2.0", is part of the Hessian Ministry of Digitalization and Innovation's drive to digitalize town infrastructure.
The project, which received a total funding of 742,500 euros, will see the installation of intelligent street lighting that can light up according to demand. This means that where lighting is no longer needed in the evenings and at night, the streetlights will be turned off, thus saving energy.
The smart lighting system will also be equipped with sensors that enable remote control and automatic adjustment of brightness based on occupancy or daylight availability. This will further reduce unnecessary energy consumption by only illuminating areas when needed.
The energy consumption data collected from the smart lighting system and other municipal buildings will be used to make recommendations for heating control or building insulation. Individual, tailored energy-saving measures will be derived from the recorded energy consumption data, with the goal of saving energy and money through digitalization.
In addition to the smart lighting system, the project will also incorporate energy management, IoT integration, data analysis, and renewable energy integration. This means that the energy use across the region will be monitored and controlled, with smart meters for tracking consumption, energy-efficient appliances, and systems that optimize energy distribution based on real-time data.
The project, which was handed over by State Secretary Stefan Sauer, is expected to bring numerous benefits to the three municipalities. By saving energy and CO2 emissions, both the environment and the households of the three municipalities will be relieved.
For more specific details about the project and its implementation, it would be beneficial to consult local government or project management resources specific to Neuhof, Flieden, and Kalbach.
The smart lighting system, integrated into the Modular Smart Region Platform 2.0 project, will incorporate ensemble environmental-science and technology by employing sensors that adjust brightness based on occupancy and daylight availability to lower unnecessary energy consumption. While the project, funded by the Hessian Ministry of Digitalization and Innovation, will primarily focus on energy management and smart lighting, it also intends to involve finance by optimizing energy distribution and reducing costs through digitalization and the use of renewable energy.
