Innovation, Infrastructure, and Sustainability Unite in 2025 PVC Transformation: A Look Ahead

The joint SAVA (Southern African Vinyls Association) and SAPPMA (Southern African Plastic Pipe Manufacturer's Association) conference on PVC Transformation is set to take place on 14 August 2025 in Sandton. The event, themed around "Driving Progress in a Changing World," will focus on innovation, infrastructure, and sustainability within the PVC industry.

The conference promises an exciting line-up of international and local speakers. Keynote speaker Dr Mark Everard will deliver presentations titled "Seeking Societal Symbiosis for the Sustainable Use of Materials" and "Additive Sustainability Footprint: A roadmap for the PVC industry." Jonathan Davies, Head of global PVC sales and sourcing at Vinmar International, will deliver a keynote speech titled "Global Outlook of PVC." Andres Vargas, Principal Plasticiser Technology at ExxonMobil, will present on "Flexible PVC: Made to Last."

The event will feature sessions exploring innovations in PVC, plastic sustainability, and infrastructure development. Thomas Weigang from Anton Paar Technical Sales will present on "Lab scale mixers and extruders for PVC applications." SAPPMA will present a dedicated pipeline-focused session as part of the broader conference program.

The speakers will cover a diverse range of topics, including imports and exports, sustainability and recycling, new product developments, and market trends. Over 150 senior decision-makers, influential players, and key stakeholders from the PVC and broader plastics value chain are expected to attend, indicating a comprehensive industry representation.

The SAPPMA parallel sessions, titled "Pipelines of Progress," will also take place during the conference. Various industry experts, including Jerrie Vermeulen (Sasol), Theunis Pos (About Air Pollution), Tertius Ness (South Ocean Electric Wire), will deliver local presentations at the PVC parallel session. The SAPPMA parallel session will feature presentations by Jacques van Eck (SAPPMA), Mike Schutte (Rho-Tech), Renier Snyman (Sun Ace SA), Kirtida Bhana (Plastics SA), Mike Smart (Genesis Consulting) and Justin Marsberg (CEISLAB) on various aspects of plastic pipes.
