In a recent turn of events, the endeavor of Rupert Murdoch to alter the family trust was unsuccessful.

The probate officer, who listened to numerous clandestine testimonies by Murdoch family members this year, issued a verdict over the weekend. As per a source with firsthand knowledge, the 96-page judgment severely critiqued Rupert Murdoch and his preferred heir, Lachlan Murdoch.

Edmund J. Gorman Jr., the commissioner, penned down that Rupert, Lachlan, and their representatives conducted themselves in an unethical manner, said the source. This assessment could potentially influence any upcoming appeals.

Rupert Murdoch had intended to modify his irrevocable family trust, which grants his four oldest children equal voting rights upon his demise. The proposed alteration aimed to reinstate all authority to Lachlan, who shares his father's conservative beliefs. The three other eldest children, Prudence, Elisabeth, and James, voiced their objections and challenged the alteration in a Nevada court.

The court report remains confidential, and CNN has not had the chance to peruse it. The New York Times, which initially reported on the ruling, claimed to have obtained a copy.

In accordance with The Times, Gorman stated that Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch attempted to manipulate the situation in favor of Lachlan following Rupert Murdoch's passing, hence making his succession unrevisable.

Conflicts concerning the family trust have led to a rift within the family, sources shared with CNN earlier.

A spokesperson for the other three Murdoch offspring expressed their hope to "move past this litigation in order to concentrate on rekindling and strengthening familial bonds among all members."

A representative for Rupert Murdoch did not answer CNN's request for comment. The representative told The Times that they planned to file an appeal.

The New York Times reportedly mentioned that Gorman criticized the media agency's attempt to influence Rupert Murdoch's succession, which could impact the business operations. The ongoing family disagreements have been widely covered by various news outlets, contributing to the media's discussion about the Murdoch dynasty.
