HTW Dresden Pioneers Sustainable Energy from Human, Animal, Machine Movements

Scientists at HTW Dresden are pioneering a novel approach to electricity generation in the SNAPS project. Their aim? To harness energy from human, animal, and machine movements to create a sustainable, autonomous power supply.

The research team, led by Prof. Dr. Martin Kaltschmidt, is breaking new ground as no other known company or institution in Dresden is currently exploring this specific niche of autonomous energy supply systems. The project's goal is to develop a new generation of 'energy harvesters' that convert environmental energy into usable electricity.

These energy harvesters are designed with sustainability in mind. They are intended to have a long lifespan and be made from recyclable materials. Moreover, they are designed to be easily scalable, ranging in size from a few centimeters to several decimeters.
