Hamm's Public Transport Gets Major Boost with New 10-Minute Interval
Hamm's public transport is set for significant improvements. From August 24, a new 10-minute interval will be introduced on central bus lines during peak travel times. This is part of the Nahverkehrsplan 2025, aiming to double the share of public transport in total traffic by 2035.
The new line 8 will run hourly between Selbachpark and the Barbaraklinik, replacing the southeastern section of the previous ring bus. Meanwhile, lines 1/3 and 10/11 will operate at 10-minute intervals on weekdays between 6:30 and 8:30 am, and 1:00 and 6:00 pm, providing increased news coverage during peak hours. This increased frequency is initially limited until the end of 2026, pending passenger counts and surveys.
These changes are part of Hamm's goal to reduce CO2 emissions by around 40% (20,000 tons annually) by 2035. By 2035, the city aims to increase public transport passengers from 45,000 to 70,000 per day. In the second half of 2026, further measures such as increasing bus frequency during peak hours and optimizing schedules based on passenger data will be implemented to enhance traffic volume.
Starting August 24, Hamm's central bus lines will see improved service with a new 10-minute interval during peak travel times. This is a significant step towards the city's goal of doubling public transport share and reducing CO2 emissions by 2035.
