Hamm's Former Kaufhof Building to Become 'Heinemann Quarter'
After years of vacancy, the former Kaufhof building in Hamm is set for a new lease of life. The 'Heinemann Quarter' project, a joint venture between local companies and led by Simon Schneider and Franz Venker, aims to transform the station district and create a modern, mixed-use city center.
The project, expected to submit building permits by late 2025 or early 2026, will involve demolishing the old Kaufhof building in spring 2026, a process estimated to take around five months. Upon completion, the Heinemann Quarter will consist of three buildings and a multi-story garage offering 300 to 400 parking spaces.
Spanning approximately 12,900 square meters, the quarter will house offices, practices, restaurants, residential units, and cultural facilities. With an investment volume in the higher double-digit million range, the project is set to significantly boost Hamm's urban development.
Initial talks with potential tenants have revealed strong interest in office and practice spaces, indicating a positive outlook for the project's success.
The Heinemann Quarter, scheduled for completion in 2029 at the earliest, is poised to revitalize Hamm's city center. By transitioning from a monofunctional department store space to a vibrant, mixed-use hub, the project promises to breathe new life into the area, attracting residents, visitors, and businesses alike.
