Government official Neal Morrison takes on new role at P&CMA, focusing on government relationships and member interaction
The Petroleum and Convenience Marketers of Alabama (P&CMA) has appointed Neal Morrison as its new Director of Governmental and Legislative Affairs, effective August 1, 2025.
Morrison, with his 30 years of experience in governmental affairs and community outreach, is expected to lead the association's government relations efforts and member engagement across Alabama. He will represent P&CMA in Montgomery and help connect member businesses with elected officials at all government levels to advance the association's goals and legislative priorities.
Morrison's extensive background in public service and leadership, including his tenure as a former member of the Alabama House of Representatives, former director of the North Alabama Regional Council of Governments, and commissioner of senior services under Governor Robert Bentley, provides P&CMA with valuable relationships and expertise necessary to advocate effectively for its members.
These members include over 200 petroleum marketers and convenience store operators that collectively operate more than 3,250 stores and employ nearly 60,000 people across Alabama. P&CMA views Morrison’s leadership as crucial to supporting family-owned small businesses and the state’s energy infrastructure.
Petroleum marketers, as represented by P&CMA, provide products that literally fuel the economic engine of the state. Without their products, economic development in Alabama would be impeded. The association also includes operators of locally owned convenience stores, making it a significant portion of Alabama's small business community.
Morrison's responsibilities at P&CMA will extend beyond Montgomery to strengthen member engagement across Alabama. He expressed his excitement about joining P&CMA, stating that the association represents family-owned small businesses and hard-working men and women across Alabama. Bart Fletcher will continue in his role as association president.
Rex Jones, chair of the association's board of directors, stated that Morrison's expertise and experience are needed to help P&CMA achieve its goals, mission, and vision. Neal Morrison's distinguished record of public service and leadership, including his chairmanship of the Alabama Certificate of Need Board and his lifetime membership in the American Council of Young Political Leaders, further underscores his suitability for this role.
