Government Approves Financial Authority Guidelines, Bolsters Administrative Departments with Greater Authority
In Bhopal, the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet has approved the Financial Powers Manual 2025 (Part 1), slated to take effect from July 1. The revised manual is an update on the Finance Powers Manual 2012 (Part 1), revised to address changes in administrative costs, office operations, and delegation of powers.
The finite powers granted to the finance department now include correcting clerical errors and making future amendments, as needed. Authorities delegated to various departments include the power to engage consultancy firms and agencies for project work, approve demolition of departmental buildings, and sanction 80% of medical advances without seeking approval from health and medical departments.
The manual aims to simplify procedures, reduce bureaucratic delays, and promote transparency and accountability. By granting departments greater autonomy in financial matters, the manual aims to streamline government operations, making them more efficient and business-friendly. The revised framework is part of broader efforts to modernize government operations in Madhya Pradesh.
Prior to the Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav told his ministers that a state-level campaign was being held in observance of the 300th Jayanti of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, with various activities scheduled from May 26 to May 31. The next Cabinet meeting will be held in Pachmarhi on June 3, a tribute to the King Bhabhut Singh who posed a challenge to British colonial rule.
[1] "To streamline government administration and enhance the ease of doing business within government operations."[2] "The manual aims to empower various government departments by granting them greater autonomy in decision-making regarding financial matters."[3] "By clearly delineating and delegating financial powers, the manual seeks to simplify procedures, reduce red tape, and facilitate smoother government functioning."
The financial news in Mumbai highlights the update on the Financial Powers Manual 2025 (Part 1) in Madhya Pradesh, which involves increasing autonomy for various departments, enabling them to make approvals for engagements with consultancy firms or agencies, demotion of redundant buildings, and sanction of 80% medical advances, all without seeking additional approval from health and medical departments. This development aligns with the broader goal of modernizing government operations, ultimately promoting a business-friendly environment and easing bureaucratic procedures (Part 1).
