Goldstream's impending investment may bestow a golden era on the city of Saint Bella.

Goldstream Invests in Saint Bella: A Dual-Pronged Strategy

Goldstream Investment Ltd., led by well-known investor Zhao Linghuan, has made a strategic investment in Saint Bella, a company providing high-end maternity and baby care services. The investment, valued at HK$13.82 million ($1.76 million), represents 0.29% of Saint Bella's total issued share capital.

This move comes as Goldstream's stock price soars, driven by excitement for its cryptocurrency and stablecoin ventures. The investment in Saint Bella appears to be part of a broader approach linking Goldstream's cryptocurrency-related investments with the stablecoin enthusiasm in Hong Kong, and a diversification into promising growth sectors like maternity and baby care.

Saint Bella, which went public at a price of HK $6.58 per share, has shown strong business growth. Its revenue has grown steadily over the last three years, reaching 799 million yuan in 2023, and the company forecasted a 25% revenue increase to 448 million yuan in the first half of this year. The company's net profit more than doubled from 20.77 million yuan in 2023 to 42.26 million yuan in the same period, excluding fair-value changes of financial instruments and IPO-related expenses.

Zhao Linghuan, who joined PC giant Lenovo in 2003 and later established Hony Capital, has 120 billion yuan ($16.7 billion) in assets under management. His investments include various corporations like China Glass, CSPC Pharma, and Bytedance. With Goldstream, he is now leading a company that has shown interest in the development of Web 3.0 businesses and cryptocurrencies, with Ethereum as a blockchain technology of particular interest.

Goldstream purchased 1.83 million shares of Saint Bella in the open market between July 28 and Aug. 1, amounting to approximately 0.3% of its stock. The company and Saint Bella have also signed a strategic cooperation memorandum to explore overseas business development, indicating a partnership that likely aims to leverage each other's strengths beyond just shareholding.

Saint Bella, established by Xiang Hua, a millennial who graduated from the University of Oxford, has also made significant strides in elder care services, which could have significant growth potential due to China's aging population.

This investment by Goldstream in Saint Bella raises questions about Zhao Linghuan's future plans for his holdings in the company. It seems that Goldstream is blending its core focus on crypto and stablecoins with strategic investments in high-growth sectors like maternity and baby care, possibly to diversify risk and capitalize on promising domestic and overseas expansion opportunities. This reflects a dual-pronged strategy driven by stablecoin mania in Hong Kong and a search for robust growth avenues outside purely crypto assets.
