Global Law Firm Announces Promotions Across Multiple Practice Areas

In a move to strengthen its global presence, a leading law firm has announced the promotion of 54 lawyers to partner and director positions, effective January 1, 2022. The promotions span 11 practice areas, reflecting the firm's commitment to diversity and growth.

Anna Rudawski, based in New York, has been promoted to the information governance, privacy and cybersecurity practice area. Meanwhile, Alberta Yan has been elevated to the corporate, M&A and securities practice area in the same city. In London, Laura Kiwelu joins the projects practice area, while Paul Cartwright takes up a position in the litigation and disputes practice area in Johannesburg. Kimberly Cheeseman has been promoted to the employment and labor practice area in Houston, and Joseph Drapalski and Denton Nichols have been elevated to the litigation and disputes practice area in Houston and Los Angeles, respectively.

The promotions also extend to other regions. In South Africa, lawyers are promoted to director instead of partner. Justin Coddington has been promoted to the tax practice area in Houston. In Canada, Robin Acworth, Veronique Barry, Scott Boucher, Brian Chau, Matthew Choi, Jenna Anne de Jong, Russell Dufault, Alison FitzGerald, Caroline Jodoin, Jonathan Lafrance, Brigitte LeBlanc-Lapointe, Jennifer McPherson, Brian Milne, Fahad Siddiqui, Joshua Sprague, Nikita Stepin, Tim Stewart received promotions. Rebecca Abou-Chedid has been promoted to the projects practice area in Washington, D.C., and Bernd Dreier has been elevated to the corporate, M&A and securities practice area in Munich.

In Europe, Marianne McMahon has been promoted to the general counsel position in London, Jared Kaplan has been promoted to the corporate, M&A and securities practice area in New York, Alex Zekkos has been promoted to the banking and finance practice area in London, and Nicolas Sirtoli has been elevated to the corporate, M&A and securities practice area in London. Victoria Corder has been promoted to the litigation and disputes practice area in New York, and Annabelle Wheeler has been elevated to the litigation and disputes practice area in Munich/London.

The promotions in Australia include Kate Green, Harriet Oldmeadow, and Nick Sinclair. Claudia Posluschny has been promoted to the employment and labor practice area in Munich. Gerry Pecht, Global Chief Executive of the law firm, praised the promoted lawyers for their industry knowledge, business acumen, and innovative solutions.

The promotions also include Nathan Baum in Dallas, Louisa Roe in London, Veit Sahlfeld in Hamburg, Zayba Drabu in London, Rebecca Winthrop in Los Angeles, Geraldine Young in Houston, Darren Smith in Houston, Fiona Henderson in New York, Blake Redwine in Dallas, and Helen Fairhead in London.

Twenty-three of the 54 promoted lawyers are women, representing 43% of the total. This reflects the firm's ongoing commitment to gender diversity, despite the consistent decrease in the representation of women and gender minorities at senior leadership levels in many law firms. Initiatives and commitments to transparency, education, and structural change continue to be emphasized to advance gender equity in law firm promotions.
