New Equity Fund Focuses on Value Protection and Sustainability: HMT Aktien Value Protect ESG
Universal-Investment has launched a new equity fund named HMT Aktien Value Protect ESG (ISIN: DE000A2QSGH4), a collaboration between Hanse Merkur Trust and the Hanse Merkur Group. This fund aims to balance value-oriented stock selection with active ESG integration, offering investors an opportunity to invest in a sustainable and responsible manner while focusing on capital growth and value protection.
The HMT Aktien Value Protect ESG invests in global value stocks from OECD countries, with its portfolio consisting of 25 to 35 individual stocks. The selection of these titles is based on a system of key figures and scoring, which includes sustainability criteria. In addition to ESG criteria, exclusions are used in the selection process to ensure the fund aligns with recognized ESG frameworks.
To cushion larger price declines on the stock markets, the fund is supplemented by an options-based hedging strategy. This strategy, known as rolling put options on stock indices, helps to protect the fund's value during market downturns.
The fund was financed by the Hanse Merkur Group, and several funds of Hanse Merkur Trust already possess the FNG seal. Hanse Merkur Trust aims to obtain certification with the FNG seal for the HMT Aktien Value Protect ESG in 2022, further emphasizing its commitment to sustainability.
