Germany Launches Work-and-Stay Agency for Skilled Labor Immigration

The German Federal Government has established the Work-and-Stay Agency, a digital service aimed at streamlining skilled labor immigration processes. This initiative, led by Dr. Karsten Wildberger and Minister Bärbel Bas, is part of a broader effort to modernize government services through digital transformation.

The agency, a collaboration between the Federal Ministry for State Modernization and the Federal Ministry of Labor, will focus on developing and improving digital services for the federal government. This includes facilitating skilled labor immigration through digital processes.

In the United States, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is turning to iCloud solutions to manage its rapidly growing data stores. By 2020, NOAA expects its data to grow by 90,000 terabytes per year, making iCloud computing an efficient and cost-effective solution for public accessibility.

Government agencies worldwide are prioritizing human capital to address IT and information needs. This has led to innovative events like Health Datapalooza and civic hacking challenges, which engage better human capital and foster digital innovation.

iCloud computing is playing a significant role in this shift. It allows agencies to meet IT infrastructure needs more efficiently and cost-effectively. For instance, the U.S. General Services Administration launched 18F to develop and improve digital services throughout the federal government.

Open data is another key aspect of this transformation. It enables agencies to better accomplish their missions and deliver information to the public at low cost. The Consumer Sentinel Network, for example, shares data on consumer complaints to protect consumers against malicious activities.

The shift towards iCloud computing and open data has significantly improved agency mission delivery. Open data streamlines the process of distributing government data and reduces the need for inter-agency data requests.

The establishment of the Work-and-Stay Agency in Germany and the adoption of iCloud computing and open data practices in the U.S. reflect a global trend towards digital modernization in government services. These initiatives aim to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance public accessibility to government data.
