Georgia resident installs budget Chinese tires onto $2 million Bugatti vehicle, opting for cost-effective alternatives after financial constraints.
Veyron Owner Saves Over $155,000 with Chinese Forged Wheels and Modern Michelin Tires
A Veyron owner in Georgia has found a cost-effective solution for maintaining his high-performance car, saving more than 95% on wheel and tire expenses. The owner opted for Chinese forged wheels and modern Chiron-spec Michelin tires, instead of the official Bugatti wheels and Michelin PAX tires, which would have cost over $160,000.
The forged Chinese wheels and new Michelins cost under $5,000, including shipping and import fees. This includes the replacement of the original Michelin PAX tires, which are unique and require special equipment and fitting methods. The cost of replacing these tires alone can reach around $45,000.
The new wheels, sourced from a manufacturer in China, were installed without requiring modifications to the Veyron's large brakes. The owner took the car to Butler Tire in Alpharetta, Georgia, for the tire replacement.
On the road, the Veyron now rides more smoothly and quietly, with stronger braking and sharper steering. However, the tire-pressure monitoring system no longer works due to the change in tires.
The new tires chosen for the Veyron are Chiron-spec Michelin tires, which are strong enough for road use but are not rated for the Veyron’s top speed of 250mph. The Michelin PAX tires for the Veyron became harder to source and more expensive to replace as time went on.
This modification shows that there are alternatives for Veyron owners facing similar issues with the original PAX system. The owner has found a way to maintain his car's high-performance capabilities without breaking the bank. This cost-effective solution could provide a valuable option for other Veyron owners.
