Free Travel for Under-28s in Region Grand Est & Paris This Summer

In a collaborative effort to boost cross-border travel, young people aged under 28 can enjoy free travel in the Region Grand Est and to Paris this July and August 2025. This initiative, called the Germany Ticket or D-Ticket YouthBW, is a joint project between the German states of Baden-Württemberg, Rheinland-Pfalz, Saarland, and the French region Grand Est.

The offer includes a wide range of train and bus lines, with reservations mandatory for travel from Paris Gare de l'Est or Strasbourg to Metz or Colmar. This covers regional TER trains and cross-border services operated in partnership between DB (German Railways) and SNCF (French Railways), such as the TER trains connecting Strasbourg to Metz and Colmar. Long-distance trains like TGV or DB SNCF collaborations on routes starting in Paris Gare de l'Est towards these destinations may also be included.

The Pass Jeune/Grenzenlos is valid for young people with residence in the cooperating regions. French young people under 28 with residence in the Region Grand Est can use buses and trains in the cooperating federal states without additional charge. A valid ID card or passport is required to prove residence during checks. The ticket is valid in regional trains (RB, RE, S-Bahn), TER Fluo network, and buses between Germany and France, but not in long-distance trains or local public transport.

This cross-border public transport cooperation aims to foster cultural exchange and mobility among young people. The offer is valid for travel in July and August 2025, with reservations mandatory on specific routes. Young people are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to explore the Region Grand Est and Paris at no extra cost.
