Free Summer Travel for Under-28s in Grand Est and Paris
In a boost for youth mobility, young people under 28 can travel for free in the Region Grand Est and to Paris using the Germany Ticket or D-Ticket JugendBW in July and August 2025. This initiative is part of a cross-border cooperation between the Region Grand Est and certain German federal states.
The free travel offer is valid on regional trains (RB, RE, S-Bahn), TER Fluo trains, and buses between Germany and France. However, it does not cover long-distance or local urban traffic. Mandatory reservations are required for travel on specific routes, free of charge via SNCF Connect.
To use this offer, young people must have a valid ID card or passport to prove their residence during checks. The Pass Jeune/Grenzenlos is valid for young people residing in the Region Grand Est, while the D-Ticket (including Young People's Ticket Saarland and D-Ticket JugendBW) is valid for those residing in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, and the Saarland in the Region Grand Est. This cooperation aims to facilitate cross-border public transport use between the Region Grand Est and the cooperating German federal states.
The Region Grand Est and certain German federal states have joined forces to offer free travel to young people under 28 in the summer of 2025. This initiative promotes youth mobility and encourages cross-border cooperation in public transport.
