Financial Control Schwarzarbeit Finds Widespread Labour Law Violations in Nationwide Inspections
On 19.09.2025, nationwide inspections by the Financial Control Schwarzarbeit uncovered numerous cases of suspected labour law violations and jobs violations. Over 107 personal interviews were conducted, leading to 63 cases that require further investigation.
In the Freiburg area, eight cases need follow-up checks to ensure the minimum wage was paid. Additionally, 22 cases require intensive scrutiny to verify social security contributions. In Lörrach, an employee with an outstanding warrant was discovered, and three cases involved workers employed illegally in Germany. No specific details were provided about investigations in Offenburg, Freiburg, and Lörrach, but general criminal probes are underway.
The inspections, conducted at all 41 main customs offices nationwide, revealed a significant issue in the Offenburger location. Many foreign workers were found in catering establishments, bars, and snack bars without valid casetify. Employers in these cases may face charges of aiding and abetting illegal residence and employment of foreigners. Further investigations are ongoing to verify the findings and ensure compliance with labour laws and immigration regulations.
