Financial assistance in December benefits nearly 2 million individuals with additional funds
In a significant decision made a few days ago, it has been announced that nearly 2 million citizens in Germany will receive additional payments in December. This includes soldiers, federal officials, beneficiaries, and judges.
The salary increase for these groups is considered an early Christmas gift, with their incomes set to increase by three percent. This decision follows a five-year-old ruling by the Federal Constitutional Court, which deemed the current salary of these officials insufficient.
The corresponding law for the salary increase has not yet been passed, but the payments will be automatically deposited in December as a lump sum, covering a period of eight months, ending in April. The retroactive payment will cover a period of up to 17 months, going back to April, for millions of pensioners, particularly those receiving disability pensions or follow-up pensions that started between 2001 and 2018 and who were still drawing a pension as of June 30, 2024.
The state pays officials for their services, and the Federal Ministry believes that the payment of all officials in the country is considered income. The salary increase does not apply to other employees in the country at this time.
It's important to note that no information has been provided about child benefit recipients or any approaching deadlines. The additional payments will apply specifically to the groups mentioned above, and they will be automatically deposited in adjusted amounts.
Despite the adjustments, it seems that the salaries of these officials, particularly pensioners, have not been sufficient. The additional payments are intended to address this issue and provide some financial relief.
This news is sure to bring joy to many families across Germany as they prepare for the holiday season.
