Federal Program for Animal Husbandry Transformation Extends Deadline to April 2026
Minister Alois Rainer has announced a change in the Federal Program for the Transformation of Animal Husbandry. Applications for investment funding will now be accepted only until the end of April 2026, with future funding for animal-friendly pig housing to be provided through the Joint Task for the Improvement of Agricultural Structures and Coastal Protection (GAK).
The shift comes as the federal program did not achieve its expected impact. Rainer explained that the focus will now be on more effective investments, coordinated by the states. Farmers should note that the decision on funding will be made by December 31, 2026, and they must submit proof of use by December 31, 2028.
The project duration can be a maximum of 24 months after funding approval. Farmers can apply for a 60% grant for investment volumes up to 0.5 million euros.
The 'Convert Animal Husbandry' federal program has thus adjusted its deadlines. Farmers are encouraged to apply for funding by April 30, 2026, to ensure they can benefit from the new provisions and support for animal-friendly pig housing.
