Expansion of district heating advancement in Wiesbaden enters new stage
In the heart of Wiesbaden, the city is making significant strides in modernizing its heating, electricity, and water infrastructure. This commitment to upgrading existing facilities is part of a broader effort to improve the quality of life for its residents.
While specific details about the modernization of the heating, electricity, and water lines are primarily documented in military facility and regional infrastructure investment plans, the city is actively working on several key projects.
One such project is the replacement of outdated power cables in the Helenenstraße substation area. This move aims to increase supply security and minimize future fluctuations in the city centre. For those interested in gaining a deeper understanding of this complex project, two explanatory videos are available.
Elsewhere in the city, traffic is being managed during the district heating expansion on Schwalbacher Straße. Despite the ongoing works, bus traffic and pedestrian paths will largely be maintained. The old traffic routing on Rheinstraße will be gradually restored during this expansion.
ESWE Supply, a key player in these projects, has already laid new water pipes up to Luisenstraße, with the next phase focusing on Friedrichstraße. The street between Luisenstraße and Emser Straße will remain one lane until mid-September.
Starting on August 4, Schwalbacher Straße will have only one lane for traffic in both directions due to renovations by ESWE Supply and sw netz. The renovations will include updating district heating, electricity, and water lines in the same construction section. The team is also preparing additional lanes for future densifications by laying supply lines.
The project manager, Andrej Hert of ESWE Supply, acknowledges that the construction site is challenging due to coordination with future construction projects around the Walhalla and the Mauritius Hof.
For those curious about construction sites across the city, the city's official website provides an interactive construction site map. Meanwhile, Burgstraße is undergoing a facelift with a full closure, including a new pavement and a barrier-free traffic island. Burgstraße will remain closed until October 27.
ESWE Supply has also connected the New Town Hall to Wiesbaden's district heating network, and the conditions for the Old Town Hall and the State Parliament to be connected have been created. However, there are no changes anticipated at Emser Straße.
As these projects progress, ESWE Supply asks for understanding from drivers and residents as the city continues to modernize and improve its infrastructure. For the most up-to-date information on construction sites, visit www.wiesbaden.de.
