Examples of automotive industry's evolution and change

In Baden-Württemberg, a significant shift towards electrical powertrains is underway, with the state playing a pivotal role in supporting the transition. The Scale-up E-Drive, a nationwide active transformation hub, is coordinated from Baden-Württemberg by e-mobil BW.

The state's commitment to this transformation is evident in various measures, including the establishment of a pilot office at e-mobil BW, consulting vouchers, and FOSS Consulting vouchers. The Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts, Media Library even provides photos for download to aid in the dissemination of information.

One of the key players in this transformation is WAFIOS AG, which has an E-Mobility Campus dedicated to e-mobility development and production in mechanical engineering. Another notable entity is Innomotics, an electric motor manufacturer in Tübingen-Kilchberg, pioneering in industrial efficiency, electrification, sustainability, and digitization.

The state has recognised the challenges of transformations in the automotive industry and has been supporting companies in transition since early on. As a result, several regional transformation networks have emerged. These include the Cluster Automotive Region Stuttgart 2.0 (CARS 2.0), focusing on vehicle and mechanical engineering, TRANSFORMOTIVE in the Heilbronn-Franken region, Zukunft Ostwürttemberg Transformationsnetzwerk in the Ostwürttemberg region, Transformationsnetzwerk (TraFoNetz) in the North Black Forest region, and the Transformation Innovation Mobility (TIM) network in the Allgäu-Bodensee-Oberschwaben region.

AuTOS, an automotive network for Southwest Germany, is based in the Black Forest-Baar-Heuberg region. The Transformationsnetzwerk (TraFoNetz) is another network, based in the North Black Forest region. The specific networks funded by the 'Future Fund Automotive Industry' of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy until the end of 2025 are not explicitly listed in the available search results, but it is known that six networks will be funded by the end of 2025.

The Guidance Office, based at e-mobil BW, works with over 40 partners and offers qualification, networking, and knowledge transfer services. This office provides individual guidance conversations to address the specific situations of companies and explain relevant developments, trends, and funding opportunities. It also contributes to knowledge building and transfer through thematic events, thematic short studies, and the publication series 'Knowledge Compact'.

Recently, Minister Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut visited WAFIOS AG in Reutlingen and Innomotics in Tübingen to observe the transformation of the automotive industry firsthand. The Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy (BMWi) is funding the establishment of these regional transformation networks in the automotive industry.

With these initiatives, Baden-Württemberg is leading the way in the transformation of the automotive industry, fostering innovation, and supporting companies in their transition towards a more sustainable future.
