Every year, thousands of applications are scrutinized to find the ideal candidate for employment.
Mawave Marketing, the successful marketing firm led by Jason Modemann, has announced a new recruitment strategy aimed at recognising and retaining real talents. With over 150 employees and prestigious clients such as Red Bull, Nike, and Lidl, the company has grown significantly, necessitating a change in approach to hiring.
The new strategy consists of three key rules: hiring for knowledge, involving the team in the selection process, and maintaining a balance between technical competence and cultural fit.
In the past, Mawave Marketing's recruitment approach was more focused on cultural fit over resumes and qualifications. However, as the company expanded, it became necessary to fill roles requiring seniority and technical depth, leading to a shift in focus.
The recruitment process now includes a fixed timeline between application, first interview, case study, and feedback. Case studies and deep dives are used to assess a candidate's ability to do the job, while the company no longer prioritises degrees or traditional career paths; instead, it focuses on real-world project experience and problem-solving abilities.
The company receives over 4,000 applications per year, and at least 15 compelling applications are required to start the selection process. The team, including heads of departments, is involved in the selection process for both junior and senior positions to ensure team dynamics fit.
The culture check remains central, with motivation and attitude discussed during the initial conversation. Company culture plays a role, with open communication, appreciation, and idea contribution being valued. Clear career paths, feedback, and learning opportunities are important for candidate's growth.
Hybrid work, flexible scheduling, and remote options are valued by candidates, and Mawave Marketing offers these benefits to attract top talent. The company also values projects where candidates can make a difference and have visible results.
Recruiting must be continuously adapted to the needs and growth of a company. Mawave Marketing is committed to providing space to recognise and retain real talents, ensuring the company continues to thrive and deliver exceptional results for its clients.
