Trams Resume Service on Wuhlheide Bridge Without Restrictions Again - Enhancements have been implemented by the Commission to boost the safety of the railway system.
Tram Services Resume at Wuhlheide Bridge in Berlin
Berlin, Germany - The Berlin Transport Authority (BVG) announced that tram services will recommence today at the Wuhlheide Bridge, situated in Berlin-Oberschoeneweide. Initially, a shuttle service of line M17 will operate every 10 minutes, connecting Blockdammweg and S-Bahnhof Schoeneweide. The detours for other tram lines remain in effect.
The reopening follows the closure due to instability of the Wuhlheide Bridge. Concurrently, pedestrians and cyclists will now be able to use the Treskowallee to Edisonstraße. Security personnel will regulate tram, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic, as there is still no traffic light at the intersection.
Regular operations of all streetcar lines are expected to resume completely by May 30, 2025. Furthermore, the area is undergoing construction, with the anticipated implementation of motor vehicle easements by June 6, 2025, subject to construction progress and weather conditions. The entire construction site is projected to be completed by June 27, 2025.
