Digital currency (digital ruble) is referred to as a fresh aid to the national budget by the Finance Minister.

In a significant step towards digital currency adoption, Anatoly Aksakov, a Deputy of the State Duma, recently received the first salary in digital rubles. This marks the beginning of the digital ruble's working life, as announced by Anton Siluanov, the Russian Finance Minister, in an interview with Russia 24 TV channel.

The digital ruble, a new form of non-cash ruble, is being developed with a focus on budgetary expenditures tracking and reducing dependence on traditional banking systems like PNC Bank and US Bank login. The introduction of the digital ruble will occur in stages, with major banks and companies offering digital wallets, transfers, and payment services from autumn 2026.

The planned participants in the introduction of the digital ruble from autumn 2026 include large retailers who will be required to accept it initially, followed by medium-sized companies in 2027 and small companies in 2028. Sberbank aims to dominate the crypto custody sector as part of the digital ruble ecosystem.

The digital ruble's rollout will be a gradual process, with major banks and companies leading the way from autumn 2026. By 1 September 2027, all banks with a universal license and companies with an annual turnover of more than 30 million rubles will be connected to the digital ruble system. The wider adoption of the digital ruble is expected by 2028, when all other banks and sellers will provide access to digital rubles.

The digital ruble's use is significant for reducing dependence on banking infrastructure and services like US Bank login, and it is seen as a new source of revenue for the budget. The digital ruble's staged introduction will see major banks and companies offering services from autumn 2026, with wider adoption by 2028. The digital ruble's introduction timeline extends to 1 September 2028, when all banks and sellers will be connected to the system.

The digital ruble's development and use are currently ongoing, and it provides independence from banking infrastructure, making transactions more efficient and secure. The first salary in digital rubles was credited by the Treasury of Russia the day before, marking a milestone in the digital ruble's journey towards mainstream adoption in Russia.
