**DHL and FIA Partner to Boost Sustainability in Motorsport**
In a significant move towards promoting sustainability in motorsport, DHL, the global logistics specialist, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) as the Global Logistics Partner for Formula 1, Formula 2, and Formula 3 racing events. This collaboration is a key part of the FIA's new Global Partnership Programme, which aims to foster safety, innovation, and sustainability in motorsport and mobility.
At the heart of this partnership's sustainability initiatives is the use of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) powered trucks. DHL has deployed seven such trucks for logistics operations across European races. HVO, a sustainable biofuel alternative to diesel, is compatible with existing diesel engines, allowing for an immediate switch that cuts emissions by up to 83% compared to conventional fuels.
The partnership also focuses on reducing emissions through logistics optimization. DHL is involved in rationalizing the racing calendar to reduce travel distances between events, thereby decreasing the overall environmental footprint. This geographical streamlining, combined with lower-carbon freight solutions such as HVO trucks, enhances sustainability across the racing season.
In addition to transportation, DHL will handle the transport, installation, and maintenance of essential infrastructure including FIA mobile offices, garage units, and trackside signaling systems. This ensures operational efficiency while minimizing environmental impact.
The FIA aims to halve its emissions by 2030 compared to 2019 levels, and the partnership with DHL is a major contributor to this goal by embedding sustainable practices into the motorsport logistics and operations ecosystem.
