Shrinkage in Q2 revenue and profits for DAX companies reported - Decrease in revenue and profits observed among Dax companies during Q2

In the second quarter of 2021, the revenue of DAX companies in Germany saw a modest increase by one percent, according to recent analyses. However, the picture was not as rosy for all companies, with 17 out of 40 DAX companies reporting a decrease in revenue compared to the previous year.

Elsewhere, revenue took a significant hit. In Asia, revenue decreased by seven percent for businesses in the second quarter, as per the updated analysis by EY. No specific information about revenue in Europe was provided in the current analysis.

In North America, after a six percent decrease in revenue for businesses in the second quarter, there was a further decrease, indicating a challenging period for businesses in this region.

Employment figures also showed a downward trend, with around 30,000 jobs being cut compared to the previous year, decreasing the number of employees to 3.49 million.

Despite the mixed results, some companies managed to shine. The highest profits were made by Deutsche Telekom and Allianz. The strongest revenue growth was recorded by engine manufacturer MTU Aero Engines, followed by Siemens Energy, software company SAP, and defense company Rheinmetal.

Overall, the total profit of the 40 DAX companies shrank to 46.9 billion euros, which was 3.3 percent less than the previous year. This decrease in profit was primarily due to a 1.9 percent decrease in the profit of all DAX companies, amounting to an 8.2 billion euro drop.

Interestingly, 20 companies had higher revenue compared to the previous year among DAX companies, while 15 companies experienced a decrease in profit. The largest declines were suffered by RWE, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW.

It's worth noting that indirect context suggests that some DAX-listed companies, like HelloFresh, continued their expansion during the second quarter of 2021. However, a detailed breakdown of DAX Q2 2021 revenue by region and company-specific year-over-year changes could not be found in the available sources.

For more detailed information, it is recommended to consult financial reports or databases that specialize in company earnings or DAX index analytics for that specific quarter.
