The city of Wiesbaden is currently experiencing various road closures and detours due to ongoing construction and maintenance projects. Here's a breakdown of the current traffic situation in the city.

For questions regarding the traffic situation, residents and visitors can contact the Press Office of the City of Wiesbaden.

Rhine Banks Traffic Trial

From August 22 to 24, 2025, a traffic trial on the banks of the Rhine at Biebrich will be in effect. During this period, Rheingaustraße in front of Biebrich Palace will be closed to motorized traffic, including cars, buses, and trucks, and reserved for bicycle traffic. Access to residences in the area is still possible but limited to entry from Rathausstraße under an "Anlieger frei" (residents only) regulation.

Cyclists and pedestrians will need to follow an alternative route due to the closure of Gustav-Stresemann-Ring. An alternative detour route is signposted, leading via Kaiser-Friedrich-Ring, Am Landeshaus, Biebricher Allee, Theodor-Heuss-Ring, and Siegfriedring. However, this detour is not suitable for trucks over 3.5 tons, which will be directed via Mainzer Straße.

Clay Kaserne Exercises

On Wednesday, August 21, 2025, exercises and road closures on the Clay Kaserne military area are scheduled. These closures may impact local access, though specific detour routes were not detailed in the available information.

Gustav-Stresemann-Ring

Single-lane traffic remains on Mainzer Straße due to a sewer maintenance measure by the Wiesbaden city utilities. The detour via the auxiliary lane of Gustav-Stresemann-Ring between Wittelsbacherstraße and Wettinerstraße remains inefficient.

However, from September, one lane on the main carriageway of Gustav-Stresemann-Ring will be reopened to traffic. The reopening of this lane does not affect the detour route via Mainzer Straße due to the sewer maintenance measure.

Welfenstraße Construction

The construction site on Welfenstraße is still scheduled to be completed before the start of holidays.

The city of Wiesbaden asks for understanding regarding the ongoing traffic disruptions caused by the works. They recommend avoiding the closed areas if destinations are not in the immediate vicinity, or using public transportation.

For comprehensive, up-to-date local traffic information, the official Wiesbaden city website or local traffic authorities should be consulted.

During the Rhine BanksTraffic Trial from August 22 to 24, 2025, the finance sector may be affected as Rheingaustraße will be closed to motorized traffic, including cars, buses, and trucks, and reserved for bicycle traffic. The public-transit system might also experience disruptions due to the closure of Gustav-Stresemann-Ring, requiring cyclists and pedestrians to follow an alternative route or use detour routes. Furthermore, the industry could be impacted by the exercises and road closures on the Clay Kaserne military area scheduled on August 21, 2025, and the construction site on Welfenstraße that is still ongoing.
