Darden Restaurants & Penske Donate $2M in Refrigerated Trucks to Feeding America
Darden Restaurants Foundation, with support from Penske Truck Leasing, has donated nine 26-ft refrigerated trucks to Feeding America member food banks across the United States. The $2 million grant aims to improve the transportation of perishable goods, supporting local communities' needs.
The refrigerated trucks, each with a capacity of 26,000 lb, can carry up to 12,000 lb of food at a time. This allows food banks to transport fresh items safely and efficiently. The initiative, part of a larger effort by Feeding America, ensures that more people in need have access to nutritious food.
Selected local food banks participating in the Feeding America network received these trucks. The Darden Restaurants Foundation, along with Penske Truck Leasing, has played a crucial role in making this possible.
In total, 10 Feeding America member food banks will benefit from these refrigerated trucks. The donation will help these organizations better serve their communities, providing access to more fresh and perishable goods.
