Customs Raid Construction Industry in Franconia, Uncovers Illegal Work
Customs authorities in Lower and Upper Franconia have conducted a major inspection of the construction industry, focusing on illegal work and employment violations. The operation involved 85 officials from the Main Customs Office Schweinfurt and targeted numerous construction sites across the region.
The inspection, led by the Financial Control of Illegal Work of the Customs (FKS), questioned 165 employees and checked for proper registration of workers for social security, receipt of social benefits, and adherence to minimum wage regulations. It also verified that foreign employees had valid work permits and residence titles.
The FKS, working in collaboration with local customs offices, authorities, labor inspectorates, and social security agencies, uncovered numerous violations. These irregularities are now under further investigation. The FKS regularly conducts such inspections as part of its risk-oriented approach to combat illegal work and employment in the construction industry.
The nationwide focused inspection highlights the customs' commitment to maintaining fair employment practices and combating illegal work in the economically significant construction sector. Further checks are ongoing to address the detected irregularities.
