Crooked Entrepreneur Goldman's Agricultural Co-op "AgroVclip" Declares Bankruptcy
Agro Vklad, the farming cooperative owned by Roman Goldman, has been formally declared bankrupt in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. This development comes after a long legal battle involving allegations of fraud against Goldman, who disappeared abroad following the alleged embezzlement of funds from the cooperative.
A brief recap: investigations against Goldman, a former City Duma representative, were initiated in November 2023, when he had already left Russia. The investigation was prompted by concerns that he was misusing funds from the cooperative and vanishing overseas with the money. His whereabouts remain unknown to this day following his disappearance at the Mexico border.
In late December 2024, police reported receiving 1,486 claims from Agro Vklad shareholders, totaling around 2 billion rubles in damages. To compensate victims for their lost funds, property belonging to Goldman Group Holding companies totaling 4 billion rubles has been confiscated.
Meanwhile, the Krasnoyarsk Arbitration Court approved a bankruptcy claim submitted by Tatyana Chivikova against the Agro Vklad cooperative. Chivikova's lawsuit stated that, in addition to recovering her personal savings of more than 3.4 million rubles, she was also entitled to a compensation for the use of her savings, accrued interest, and taxes. Since the cooperative owed a creditor over 2 million rubles and failed to fulfill its obligations for three months, Chivikova filed a bankruptcy claim.
By the court's decision, the cooperative will enter a liquidation process up to August 7. The liquidation administrator appointed for the debtor is Vitaly Gulyayev.
Previously, both Roman Goldman and PJSC Goldman Group were also declared bankrupt.
Keep in mind that the bankruptcy process for Agro Vklad now includes typical procedures, such as:
- Asset analysis and liquidation: The cooperative's assets will be appraised and may be auctioned off to repay creditors.
- Debt negotiation: Efforts might be made to negotiate with creditors for negotiated settlements or restructuring of debts.
- Legal oversight: A bankruptcy trustee is likely appointed to manage the process, ensuring compliance with Russia's bankruptcy laws.
