Correos Resumes US Shipments After Adapting to New Tariff Rules
Correos has resumed all types of shipments to the United States and Puerto Rico, ending a suspension that began on August 25. The move comes after the Spanish postal service adapted its systems to comply with new USPS customs regulations for low-value shipments, which required additional data and tariff payments.
The suspension was due to changes in US tariffs that ended a previous customs regime for low-value packages. Correos has implemented a new data collection and exchange system to manage shipments to the US correctly. The resumed service affects both contract customers and individuals. Notably, Correos is one of the first international postal operators to resume this news-making service, starting October 3.
The resumption of service by Correos is a significant development for international logistics and e-commerce, as it allows for the continuation of low-value shipments to the US and Puerto Rico. Other postal operators are expected to follow suit as they also adapt to the new USPS customs regulations.
