Construction works on North Aurora Street, resulting in temporary closure for paving.
FingerLakes1.com, a local news source that has been keeping residents informed for over two decades, has announced that the resurfacing of North Aurora Street between East Buffalo and East Tompkins streets will begin on Monday, August 4, 2025.
The traffic detour plan for this project, which is part of a road resurfacing project on the 300-700 block of North Aurora Street, has been outlined by local officials. Northbound traffic should turn left onto East Buffalo Street, then a right onto either North Tioga Street or North Cayuga Street, and then right on East Tompkins Street to return to North Aurora Street. Southbound traffic should turn right onto East Tompkins Street, then left onto either North Tioga Street or North Cayuga Street.
During the milling operation, the road will be closed except for emergency vehicles. Later, vehicular traffic will be restored only for local residents. During the asphalt paving phase, driveways and the roadway will be completely inaccessible until the asphalt has cooled. Sidewalks will remain open for pedestrians, but caution is advised due to construction activity.
The city has warned that the schedule for the project is weather-dependent. Bothar Construction crews will be responsible for the project. Residents are urged to avoid the area if possible during the resurfacing project.
