That's right, buckle up! The long-awaited 74-km Bao Loc-Lien Khuong Expressway officially kicked off on June 29, 2025. This much-anticipated project is set to serving as a strategic link between the southern economic region and Da Lat, unlocking development potential in Vietnam's Central Highlands.

The project, launched under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, boasts a total investment of approximately 17.7 trillion VND (~$697 million). Once completed, the expressway is expected to slash travel time between Ho Chi Minh City and Da Lat from a grueling six hours to a more manageable three.

The expressway, part of the larger 200-km Dàu Giây-Liên Khương Expressway, will begin as a four-lane, 17-meter-wide road designed for speeds up to 80 km per hour. When in its final form, the expressway will expand to 24.75 meters and support speeds of 100 km per hour.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh emphasized the importance of the expressway, calling it a "strategic link" connecting the southern economic region with Da Lat. Binh urged all involved parties to adopt a "just do, no delays" approach, with a particular focus on timely and fair resettlement for affected communities.

Bye-bye, traffic jams and hello, quicker journeys! The new expressway, in conjunction with the Tan Phu-Bao Loc expressways, will offer a continuous route between Ho Chi Minh City and Da Lat. Officials expect the new expressway to boost logistics, tourism, and regional connectivity, while fostering urban development along the Dong Nai-Bao Loc-Duc Trong corridor.

The expressway is set to turn travel time into adventure time, dramatically cutting down on travel between Bao Loc and Lien Khuong while enhancing connectivity with Ho Chi Minh City and Da Lat. It's soon going to be smooth sailing up in the Central Highlands!
