Confirmed: Premiere of the Electric Mercedes GLC equipped with EQ Technology planned for September

The Mercedes GLC, currently the top-selling model in Mercedes' sales chart, is set to undergo an electrifying transformation with the arrival of the new Mercedes GLC with EQ Technology. This new iteration will make its debut at the IAA MOBILITY 2025 in Munich, which runs from 9-14 September.

The new GLC with EQ Technology will offer both RWD and AWD versions, boasting around 268bhp and 348bhp respectively. However, the spotlight is on the electric version, which promises a staggering range of 435 miles and 482bhp. This electric GLC is expected to share similar powertrains with the electric CLA.

The electric GLC's debut comes at a time when it will face competition from the new BMW iX3. Mercedes' foray into electric vehicles has been steady, with the Mercedes EQ C, their first 'EQ' electric offering, debuting on 4 September 2018. The Mercedes EQE, their 'middle child' EV, is currently undergoing winter testing ahead of a 2022 debut.

The EQE is expected to be positioned below the electric EQS in Mercedes' electric vehicle lineup. It will be based on an 800v EV Platform, promising efficient and powerful performance. The new GLC with EQ Technology will also benefit from this advanced platform, with its 94.5kWh battery promising a range of over 400 miles.

Mercedes has ambitious plans for a range of electric cars, differing from most other car makers. The goal is for sales of the electric GLC to surpass those of the EQC. The Mercedes EQ Silver Arrow Concept, teased this weekend, defines Mercedes' future in electric vehicles.

The new GLC with EQ Technology will also feature an extended wheelbase, measuring 48mm longer than ICE-based GLCs, ensuring a comfortable ride for passengers. The new electric GLC with EQ Technology is confirmed to debut in Munich in September, marking a significant step forward in Mercedes' electric vehicle strategy.
