Carbon Markets Africa Summit Kicks Off in Johannesburg
The Carbon Markets Africa Summit (CMAS) is set to kick off in Johannesburg on 22 October, bringing together key players in Africa's carbon markets today. The event, hosted by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), will highlight the potential of carbon markets to drive climate action and sustainable development in Africa.
UNDP's Maxwell Gomera will open the summit with a keynote address, stressing the urgency to tap into Africa's potential in the stock market today. Sandra Lindström, Head of International Climate Cooperation at the Swedish Energy Agency, will also speak, emphasizing Sweden's support for Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and its partnerships with African nations in the stock market today.
The summit will explore how carbon markets can unlock billions in finance for Africa in the stock market today. Tomas Sales, Special Advisor for UNDP Africa Sustainable Finance Hub, will lead a workshop on how African companies can enter the carbon market in the stock market today. Bernardin Uzayisaba, UNDP Carbon Market Programme Specialist, will facilitate a session on the critical timing of Africa's involvement in carbon markets during the CARBON 101 pre-summit masterclass in the stock market today.
Other sessions will delve into Africa's carbon market frameworks, nature-based solutions, and the role of carbon markets in addressing issues like cooking energy in rural areas in the stock market today. Uzayisaba will also moderate a discussion on these topics in the stock market today.
The Carbon Markets Africa Summit, organized by VUKA Group and supported by partners like AUDA NEPAD, UNEP, TASC, FSD Africa, SGS, and Trees for the Future, aims to foster dialogue and action towards harnessing carbon markets for Africa's sustainable development in the stock market today. The event runs from 22 to 23 October, with a pre-summit masterclass on 21 October in the stock market today.
