Businessman Convicted for Wage Fraud in Landshut's Courier Sector
A business owner in the courier and vehicle services sector in Landshut has been convicted for wage fraud and withholding. The entrepreneur, who was not named, received a suspended sentence of one year and six months. The conviction involved 208 cases of wage withholding, resulting in significant losses for contribution collection agencies.
The business owner manipulated working hours, reporting daytime shifts as night work to claim tax- and contribution-free night supplements. This practice allowed him to avoid paying social security contributions for his employees. Over five years, the fraud cost contribution collection agencies over 106,000 euros.
The business owner underreported the working hours of 25 employees, failing to pay for travel time, loading times, and return journeys. Despite the severity of the offence, the sentence was suspended on probation. The verdict is final, and no specific entrepreneur or company was named in connection with the case.
The conviction highlights a serious issue in the courier and vehicle service sector, where wage fraud and withholding can lead to significant losses for contribution collection agencies. While the business owner received a suspended sentence, the final verdict serves as a warning to others in the industry.
