BurdaVerlag Names Andrea Bannert as New Editor-in-Chief of Focus-Gesundheit
BurdaVerlag has announced a significant change in leadership for Focus-Gesundheit. Andrea Bannert, currently heading the online editorial team, will take over as editor-in-chief of both the print and online editorial teams starting January 2026. She succeeds Andrea Hennis, who will retire after two years in the position.
Andrea Bannert brings a wealth of experience to her new role. A microbiologist by training and a trained photo editor, she has been a part of the Focus-Gesundheit team since 2018. She has been successfully leading the online editorial team since 2020, a position she will now expand to include the print editorial teams.
Bannert will take on her new responsibilities at Burda Verlag Data Publishing, where she aims to further develop Focus-Gesundheit as a trusted bridge between medical professionals and patients. She is committed to maintaining high journalistic standards while making health information more accessible to a wider audience.
Andrea Bannert's appointment as editor-in-chief of Focus-Gesundheit marks a new chapter for the publication. With her unique background and proven leadership, she is well-positioned to guide the magazine into the future. Her tenure begins on January 1, 2026, following Andrea Hennis' retirement.
