Syensqo's Oldbury Site Wins Sustainability Award

Syensqo's Oldbury site, a key part of the company's 'One Planet' programme, has been recognised for its significant contribution to sustainability and biodiversity. The site was awarded in the category of Sustainable Transformation of Industrial Areas at the UK National Sustainability Awards.

The One Planet programme, an environmental initiative by Syensqo, aims to lead in sustainability and preserve natural habitats. While the specific details of the programme are not widely published, it aligns with global efforts to protect species and maintain ecological balance.

The Oldbury site, created by Syensqo, has been shortlisted in the Biodiversity Protection category of the same awards. The site is striving to meet the COP15 '30 by 30' target, which requires transforming 30% of its land into green spaces by 2030.

Ian Fryer, Oldbury Site Manager, expressed pride in the team for meeting and surpassing sustainability goals. The site, which was the recipient of its first external award for biodiversity work, is now home to a variety of wildlife, including wagtails, goldfinches, bees, and butterflies.

Syensqo's plans for the Oldbury site include creating a nature corridor, further enhancing its biodiversity value. The company is also aiming to earn accreditation from the Wildlife Habitat Council for the Oldbury site.

In a separate news, the UK Infrastructure Bank has been rebranded as the National Wealth Fund. Meanwhile, the UK National Sustainability Awards were won this year by Syensqo, a science company committed to developing solutions to enhance work, travel, and play, while advancing sustainability.

A consultation has been launched for the new design of Derby City Centre, offering an opportunity for further sustainable developments in the area. The Oldbury site's ongoing efforts are marking a significant step towards a greener future, setting an example for other industrial sites to follow.

  1. Syensqo, a science company dedicated to sustainability, innovation, and environmental science, has earned recognition at the UK National Sustainability Awards for its Oldbury site's transformation, which aligns with global climate-change initiatives.
  2. Beyond biodiversity, Syensqo's One Planet program also focuses on finance and business, as shown by its ambitious goal to meet the COP15 '30 by 30' target and create a nature corridor for further environmental enhancement.
  3. In financial news, the UK Infrastructure Bank has been renamed the National Wealth Fund, potentially opening new opportunities for investments in sustainable industries like Syensqo.
  4. The success of the Oldbury site and its award-winning biodiversity work illustrates how the integration of sustainability in industry can lead to a thriving environment and contribute positively to the climate-change agenda.
