Breakage in water main causes full obstruction on Bonnstraße
In the heart of Hürth, a sudden disruption to the city's transportation and a road closure on Bonnstraße have caused quite a stir. Here's what you need to know.
Starting from May 2025, Bonnstraße has been closed between Ernst-Mach-Gymnasium and Villering due to a water pipe burst. The responsible party for repairing the damage is a certified plumbing or sanitary expert, who specializes in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water pipes and sanitation systems.
As a result, water in the affected area on Bonnstraße must be turned off for repair work from 16:00 onwards. Hürth Stadtwerke has apologized for the inconvenience caused by the closure.
The closure is expected to last until mid-May 2025, with updates on progress and the time of reopening being provided promptly. During this period, residents have already been informed about the closure, and access via Hohlweg remains possible.
For passengers, several changes have been made to bus lines 711 and 720. These bus lines, which usually pass through Bonnstraße, are being rerouted in both directions due to the closure.
Line 711 will circle around the Sudetenstraße/Bonnstraße roundabout on trips from Hürth Mitte (ZOB) and then take the detour route via Theresienhöhe, Frechener Straße, and Sudetenstraße. Passengers at the "Church Center" stop should use "Hürth Mitte (ZOB)" or "De Bütt". Passengers at the "German Ring" stop should use line 711 to "De Bütt".
Line 720, on the other hand, will resume its regular route from the "Komturring" stop towards Hürth Mitte (ZOB).
It's important to note that the retractable bollards in the affected area on Bonnstraße are permanently lowered to ensure passage. The surface works on Bonnstraße have been completed as of May 2025. The barrier on Bonnstraße will be removed during the morning of May 26, 2025.
