Brandenburg Inspections Uncover 34 Cases of Labour, Tax Non-Compliance
Authorities in Brandenburg, Germany, have conducted a wide-ranging inspection across various sectors, uncovering 34 cases that require further action. The inspections, carried out in collaboration with multiple agencies, focused on labour and tax compliance.
The inspections, held on April 25, 2024, targeted businesses in Northwest Brandenburg. In Neuruppin, sectors such as catering, accommodation, retail, agriculture, and services were scrutinized. Meanwhile, barbershops in Potsdam-Mittelmark, Dahme-Spreewald, and Brandenburg an der Havel were the primary focus in Potsdam. A total of 115 people and 2 business records were inspected by 68 employees.
The inspections found indications of non-payment of federal minimum wage, suspected contribution evasion, benefit fraud, and illegal foreign employment. Germany's general statutory minimum wage, currently 12.41 euros gross per hour, was a key area of scrutiny. Special industry minimum wages also apply in several sectors, with details available on www.zoll.de.
The nationwide focus inspection and minimum wage special inspection in Brandenburg were conducted by the Main Customs Office Potsdam, in collaboration with other authorities. The findings highlight the need for further measures in 34 cases, with the goal of ensuring labour and tax compliance across the region.
