Berlin Businessman Sentenced for Wage Theft and Social Security Evasion
A Berlin businessman has been sentenced for wage theft and social security evasion, resulting in a hefty fine and suspended imprisonment. The businessman, who operated multiple companies in the cleaning and construction sectors, withheld wages from 46 employees. He was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended, and ordered to pay damages of 1.2 million EUR. This amount will be confiscated. The businessman failed to pay social security contributions totaling 1.2 million EUR between September 2016 and February 2021. He attempted to hide this by using fake invoices created by so-called service companies. The businessman's actions have resulted in a significant financial penalty and potential imprisonment.
