Beginning car assembly operations in St. Petersburg

Seems like the St. Petersburg Automobile Plant and AvtoVAZ are teaming up to churn out Lada Iskra cars, starting from September 2025. With Maxim Sokolov (AvtoVAZ boss) rallying the troops at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the goal for this year is to roll out approximately 4,000 Iskra babies.

But wait, there's more! In 2026, the St. Petersburg Automobile Plant is aiming to double its production, making the Iskra the most produced and popular car in town, one of AvtoVAZ's star models. That's some serious beefing up of their lineup!

By the way, over 90% of Lada models are already produced locally. Ivan Miroshnov, head honcho of the St. Petersburg Automobile Plant, is real pumped about this partnership with AvtoVAZ, calling it quite the honor.

Got some news from the RBC Group about the Iskra's unveiling at the SPIEF-2024. Maxim Sokolov was all about keeping the price within 1-1.2 million rubles per unit. But, as the case often is, the price might adjust according to the market's whims. And, ya know, production started in April of this year.

Speaking of numbers, the cars exported from the two active auto plants in St. Petersburg in January-February 2025 amounted to 10.45 billion rubles. Compared to the hefty 89.5 billion rubles recorded in January-February 2022 when the city had factories for Toyota, Nissan, and Hyundai, that's quite a drop.

In the automotive industry, the St. Petersburg Automobile Plant and AvtoVAZ are collaborating to increase manufacturing of Lada Iskra cars from September 2025, with a predicted production of 4,000 units in 2025 and a goal to double that in 2026. This partnership is significant, as over 90% of Lada models are already produced locally in Russia, and the price of the Iskra is projected to be within 1-1.2 million rubles per unit. The financial value of cars exported from St. Petersburg's active auto plants in the first two months of 2025 was 10.45 billion rubles, although it was higher - at 89.5 billion rubles - in the same period in 2022 when the city also had factories for Toyota, Nissan, and Hyundai.
