Leverkusen - Erik ten Hag (55) has been Bayer 4's coach for a month now. Here's the lowdown on how much the Dutchman is poised to rake in as Xabi Alonso's successor!

Bild's Brief on the Big Bucks

For months, German football enthusiasts had been debating whether Alonso would succumb to Real Madrid's big call and leave the Werkself behind. His successor: Erik ten Hag. This 55-year-old was initially given the cold shoulder by Manchester United but is now sitting pretty at Leverkusen, ready to oversee a revamp and cash in.

Following the dpa, ten Hag is set to bag approximately 5.5 million euros under the Bayer banner, making him the lowest-paid coach among Germany's record champions, with Vincent Kompany sitting atop the pay grade with around 7 million euros.

Salaries as hefty as ten Hag's were also doled out to Simon Rolfes (43) and Fernando Carro (60), Alonso's predecessors. Carro is said to have collected around six million euros after extending his contract in Leverkusen.

According to Sports Illustrated, the double winner Alonso will now pull in approximately 8 million euros a year from the Royal Club.
